Conor McGregor will come out of retirement for the third time and return to the UFC in June, going head-to-head with Michael Chandler at UFC 303 in Las Vegas.
When and where is the fight happening?
McGregor and Chandler will be fighting on the 29th of June 2024 in the T-Mobile Arena.
The fight will be the main event of the UFC 303 event, the main card will be shown live on ESPN and ESPN+ at 7 p.m. ET with the prelims on ESPN2 and ESPN+.
McGregor’s return to the UFC
This fight will be McGregor’s first fight since his defeat in UFC 264 in 2021 against Dustin Poirier, where he suffered a brutal leg injury.
McGregor has a record of 22 wins and six losses. However, he has only won one fight since 2017, losing to fighters like Khabib and Dustin Pourier twice.
He also lost to Floyd Mayweather in a high-profile boxing showdown.
Chandler was the one who called McGregor out after his fight in phoenix, saying: “I want you at your biggest, I want you at your baddest and I want you at your best.”
If this fight is to happen at middleweight, McGregor will be the third person in the history of UFC to compete in four different weight classes.
Who is Michael Chandler?
Chandler is an American mixed martial arts professional who currently competes in the lightweight division in the UFC.
The 37-year-old has a record of 23 wins and eight losses in MMA.
Since signing for the UFC, Chandler has two wins and three losses and his most recent fight was at UFC 281 in November 2022, where he fought Dustin Poirier and lost by submission in round three.
Former professional mixed martial artist Michael Bisping has warned Chandler to take the threat of McGregor seriously, saying that he would be ‘making a grave mistake’ if he goes into the fight underestimating him.
