LAS VEGAS WEATHER: Is March a good time to visit?

One of the things we get asked most often is when is the best time to visit Las Vegas for great weather. So, what can you expect from the weather in March and will it be a good time for you to hit the Strip?

March is a relatively popular time of the year to hit the Strip. It’s not peak season by any means, although that can be a blessing as you avoid the biggest crowds too. In terms of weather, well it’s a bit of a mixed bag but not bad by any means.

Let’s have a closer look at the Las Vegas weather in March.

What to expect from the Las Vegas weather in March

My birthday falls in March, so I have been to Las Vegas at that time of the year more than any other.

As mentioned, it can be a bit of a mixed bag, weather wise. Some of the days, especially more towards the end of the month, are absolutely glorious. Others can be fairly cold. I mean, not UK cold, but certainly not warm either.

It’s just generally a month when the Las Vegas weather doesn’t quite know what it’s doing; a veritable lucky dip.

It’s still a very nice time to visit, though. The extreme desert heat is still a few months away and you will definitely get some good weather to enjoy. It’s just not as reliable as other months.

How likely is it to rain in March?

You’re reasonably likely to see some rain if you decide to visit Las Vegas in March. That’s just the reality really. It is not excessive by any means, though.

On average it rains about once a week in March. You can, though, increase your chances of missing it by going later on in the month.

The rain you will see probably won’t last that long though. Showers, and even storms, tend to pass quite quickly in Nevada.

Humidity

Las Vegas is in the desert, so humidity is never really going to be a problem. For me personally, that is a big part of what makes the weather so good there.

It’s a very dry heat generally, and it’s very rare that the humidity climbs above 66% across the course of the whole year.

March is one of the more humid months, but it’s not uncomfortable at all. We are only really talking mild humidity at worst. The air gets dryer as the month progresses too.

What to pack for Las Vegas in March

The pools are just starting to open in March, so while you could take your swimwear it’s definitely not essential.

From my own personal experience Las Vegas is much more jeans and t-shirt weather rather than shorts.

Definitely take a hoodie or a jacket too, though. You’ll need them for the evenings and some of the colder days.

One of the issues that does often come up in the dry heat is dry skin or lips. That’s why it’s often recommended to pack a lip balm/chapstick. Don’t worry if you don’t though, almost every gift shop or convenience store have them to purchase.
