The Cosmopolitan Las Vegas will move over to MGM Rewards from July 30 this year, it has finally been confirmed.
Operations at the resort were taken over by MGM in May 2022 in a $1.6billion deal, although it has always kept its own Identity rewards program since then.
That is not for a lack of trying, though Originally the Cosmopolitan was due to switch over to MGM Rewards on February 1, but it was significantly delayed due to the data hack suffered by the resort chain at the end of 2023.
The hack wreaked havoc with customers and severely damaged trust in the program – and the safety of players’ details – and ended up reportedly costing MGM $100million.
That appears to have been overcome now, with MGM quietly rebuilding their entire cybersecurity protocols and protections since, but it also made it a bad time to integrate Identity Rewards.

While we know the date of the switchover, what we don’t know yet is how exactly it will affect customers. There will presumably be some kind of conversion from Identity points to MGM Tier Credits, although it’s unlikely to be done in a way to favour the player, put it that way.

We also don’t know how Cosmopolitan will be packaged within the Rewards Program itself.
It is probably safe to assume, though, that in terms of comps it will be at the Bellagio, Aria, and Vdara level rather than a New York-New York or MGM Grand one. Few could complain about that, of course, given Cosmopolitan’s premium feel and great location.
More details will be sure to emerge soon, but ultimately it’s probably a good thing for players. Even if comped Fountain View terrace suites will probably be difficult to come by, being able to earn MGM tier credits, comp dollars and slot dollars when gambling and eating in the Cosmopolitan should benefit everyone.
