Former Miami Dolphins and Pro Bowl quarterback Ryan Tannehill is one of the league’s top free agents.
Bleacher Report’s Jack Murray named the Raiders as the top spot for Tannehill to play his football in the 2024 season.
“The Las Vegas Raiders were a team that many thought could make a splash for a quarterback in the Draft. That did not materialise, and it will enter the season with Gardner Minshew, Aidan O’Connell and Anthony Brown on the depth chart.
“That may sound like enough, especially considering the fact that the team just signed Minshew in the offseason and O’Connell had significant experience as a rookie in 2023.
“However, the Raiders could be a team that has an itch that wasn’t totally scratched in the draft and adding another layer with Tannehill could push the other quarterbacks during training camp.”
The Raiders’ decision to not select a quarterback was one of the biggest surprises at this year’s draft.
General manager Tom Telesco revealed in his post-draft press conference that drafting a quarterback wasn’t a viable option.
“If we felt there was a quarterback out there that was better than we had, or could potentially be better, certainly we would have done something. But it didn’t line up,” he said.
With over 11 years of NFL experience at the Tennessee Titans and Miami Dolphins, the veteran could fit right in at the Raiders.
The 35 year-old has struggled for fitness, starting only 22 games in the last two seasons.
But he could still prove to be a valuable addition to the Raiders, rotating with newly acquired Gardner Minshew and Aidan O’Connell.
Tannehill has also been identified as an option for the Chicago Bears, Los Angeles Chargers and Denver Broncos.
