Las Vegas news: Raiders take Jackson Powers-Johnson in second round of 2024 NFL draft

University of Oregon offensive lineman Jackson Powers-Johnson is a Las Vegas Raider with the 44th overall pick of the 2024 NFL draft.

Projected to be a late first round/early second round pick, his selection is excellent value for the Raiders.

General manager Tom Telesco continued his strategy of picking the best available players on the draft board.

The Raiders selected Brock Bowers in the first round.

The All-American is the first Pac-12 player in history to win the Rimington Trophy.

Versatile across the offensive line, Powers-Johnson played 893 snaps at center, 430 snaps at right guard and 27 snaps at left guard during his time at Oregon.

The plan is for Powers-Johnson to line-up at guard alongside center Andre James, who was signed to a three-year $24 million contract in the off-season.

He is expected to line-up at right guard in 2024 with Dylan Parnham at left guard.

Powers-Johnson allowed only one QB pressure in 481 pass-blocking snaps in 2023 and didn’t allow a sack in three years as a Duck.

At 6ft 3ins, 328 pounds, Powers-Johnson said after his selection that playing for the Raiders is his dream.

“Anywhere that the Raiders want me to play, I’m going to play. If they want me to throw the ball, I’ll throw the ball,” he revealed.

“I’ve worked to hard, but it’s not really about me. It’s about all the people who helped me get here.

“The dream has been fulfilled, but now there’s new dreams to get.”

His family has been season ticket holders for over 20 years and they will get the chance to watch Jackson line up in Silver and Black for the 2024 NFL season.
